Louise Imogene Cole Brown Wable

Beloved wife, mother, sister and cherished friend who always had a smile on her face and was so loving and giving to many, passed peacefully on Friday, November 28, 2014, and is finally with our Lord Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born on September 11, 1919 in Paulding County. Louise is preceded in death by her parents, Georgia Mae and John Alfred Cole and her sister, Edna (Grady) Ross. She is also preceded in death by her husbands, George O. Brown, Sr. and M. Paul Wable. After graduating from high school, she attended West Georgia College where she received her teaching certificate. She was teaching elementary school when she met George. They were married December 25, 1938, and started a dairy business. Ruby Carolyn was born on February 5, 1942, Virginia Ann was born on March 17, 1944 and G. Owen was born on June 15, 1947. As the children became older, they ceased their Dairy business, and raised Black Angus. During this time, Louise went to secretarial school. She was hired as Secretary to the Administrator of Kennestone Hospital in 1953. The hospital grew and she was promoted to Personnel Director. As time passed, the need for a coordinated Volunteer Department became apparent and Louis handled this job with aplomb and formed a central volunteer department in 1974. She remained in this position until her retirement in 1981. There was a retirement party in September and the Mayor proclaimed September 11 as “Louise Wable Day”. A tree was planted in her name and a gift from the volunteers helped pay for a vacation to the Northeast. She was State Director of Georgia Society of Volunteers in 1978. Louise was President of the Pilot Club in Marietta and also became State President in 1978. She was a Director of the Marietta YWCA and member of the Marietta Garden Club. She received many awards for all of the clubs as well was on the Board of Directors at the YWCA. George passed away in April 1969. Shortly after that, she moved from the country to the City of Marietta, where she became active in the First Baptist Church. In 1974, she took dancing lessons at the Peachtree Road United Methodist Church, where she met Paul. There were married in January of 1979 after knowing each other for five years. After Paul retired from Lockheed in 1989, they purchased a motor home and spent a summer touring the Western States and also traveled all the Southern States frequently. They retired that vehicle and purchased a summer home near Cleveland, GA, where they spent most of their summers. Also, both enjoyed working in their yard, which was profuse with flowering shrubs and plants. A spot was picked in their back yard for a vegetable garden, complete with herbs. Louise was a true Southern Lady and a positive, caring, gentle soul to all. She had a great influence on many lives showing her love of the Lords to be genuine. All that knew her felt her influence and feel good having known her. Survivors include a brother, Robert Cole (Daisy) of Acworth, GA. Her three children blessed her with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Daughter, Carolyn Brown Younginer (Joe) of Florence, SC. Their three children, Kim Cosand (Matt) and two great-grandchildren Conner and Collin of Bristol, VA. Lisa Younginer of Gaithersberg, MD and Mary Carol Younginer of Raleigh, NC. Daughter Virginia Ann Brown of Marietta, GA, her daughter Allison Abney (Jason) and two great-grandchildren, Anna and Cole of Mableton, GA and G. Owen Brown, Jr. (Cheryl) of Marietta, GA with three children, Lori Cheney (Jim), and four great-grandchildren, Caroline, Catherine, Elizabeth, and Will, Leslie Brown and Mark Brown, all of Marietta, GA. Services to be held at First Baptist Church Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Monday, with Dr. Bill Ross officiating. Visitation will be held at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta from 3:00 to 5:00 pm on Sunday. Interment will be at Cheatham Hill Cemetery in Marietta.
