Lura Edwards Ward

Lura Jo-Ann Edwards Ward, 85, of Kennesaw, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 10, 2025. She now rests in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior. Lura's life was a testament to the enduring power of faith and family. She often fondly recalled her childhood in Ocoee, Tennessee, playing with her sisters, brother, and cousins. She cherished the memories of the group that visited Cookson Creek Baptist Church in Ocoee to teach about Jesus and scripture. It was there, at the age of 16, that she accepted Jesus as her Savior, a decision that shaped her life. A proud graduate of Polk County High School, Lura went on to further her education at her beloved Berry College, where she met the love of her life, Jerry. They cherished their 48 years together and were blessed with three children. Lura dedicated her professional life to serving as a budget analyst at Redstone Arsenal Missile Command. Beyond her career, Lura's greatest joy was her family, whom she loved deeply. She also treasured her friends, and her time spent with them, including Lorie Frady and the ladies at the hair salon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Eugene Ward, her parents, John Adrian Edwards and Mary Angeline Beckler Edwards, and her sisters, Reba Hutcheson and Wilma Jones. Lura is survived by her children: Greg Ward of Loganville, Angie Ward Mosley of Madison, Alabama, and Keith Ward and his wife, Glynnis, of Kennesaw; her brother, Bill Edwards, of Benton, Tennessee; six granddaughters: Caroline Mosley of Nashville, Tennessee, Kaitlynne Sinclair and her husband, Chase, of Bethlehem, Amy Ward of Atlanta, Erin Ward of Marietta, Courtney Mosley of Birmingham, Alabama, and Carmen Mosley of Mobile, Alabama; and three great-grandchildren: Summer, Sophie, and Weston Sinclair, all of Bethlehem. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends at Mayes Ward Dobbins Historic Marietta Chapel on Friday, February 14, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, with a Celebration of Life service immediately following at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place at Kennesaw Memorial Park on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 10:00 AM.
