Lynne Rutkowski

Lynne Rutkowski, 83, of Kennesaw, GA passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon January 24, 2023 at Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain with her loving husband and daughter by her side. A Celebration Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta with Pastor John Schubert officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Lynne was born April 16, 1939 in Sommerset, Kentucky, the middle child to Don and Donna Utter. Lynne’s father’s business required the family to move to Nashville, TN. After several years in Nashville, it was her father’s desire to move back to his family farm in Wisconsin. Lynne was about to enter 4th grade and go to a one room school house where she was the only person in her class. Lynne was an excellent student so when she completed her studies, the teacher asked her to help with teaching students in 2nd and 3rd grade. Then, off to High School in the small farm town of Stoughton. In High School, she played in the band and was also a cheerleader. Her graduating class was less than 100 students and she remained close to 8 of her girlfriends. On to college in Fulton, MO, a small two-year, all-girls school, William Woods. After graduating William Woods, she was off to Chicago to pursue her love of fashion design at Ray Vogue Fashion School. It was there that she met Ron, her future husband. They started dating and three weeks later were married. Over the course of 64 years of marriage, they moved 31 times and that’s where the true Lynne really surfaced raising two beautiful daughters, Terri and Kelly, as Ron’s work required extensive travel, but she held our young family together. Lynne is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ron Rutkowski; two daughters, Terri Votanek and husband, Jim, and Kelly Barnes and husband, Chuck; three grandsons, Michael, Pat, and Chris Votanek and great grandchildren, Rylan Votanek, and many caring friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Calvary Children’s Home, 1430 Lost Mountain Road, Powder Springs, GA 30127 or to Wellstar Tranquility Hospice at Kennesaw Mountain, 475 Dickson Avenue NW, Marietta, GA 30064.
