Mrs. Lynne J. Vansant

Lynne Johnson Vansant, a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, dedication, and unwavering love for her family. Born on May 29, 1926, in Gastonia, NC, Lynne moved with her family to the Atlanta, GA area in 1930. She graduated from Douglas County High School in 1942, the same year she married the love of her life, Henley A. Vansant. Their marriage spanned 64 beautiful years. Lynne is survived by her four children, Lynda V. Gaydon (Douglas), Henley A. Vansant, Jr. (Peggy), John P. Vansant (Rhonda Joy), and Donald L. Vansant (Debbie). She was also a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished deeply. Since 1946, Lynne made her home in Cobb County, becoming a member of McEachern Memorial United Methodist Church in 1947. In 1954, Lynne and Henley settled in the Macland community of Powder Springs, GA, where they lived for 58 years, creating a warm and welcoming home filled with love and laughter. Lynne's life was a testament to her strong faith and commitment to her community. She was actively involved in school, church, and community activities, and took great pride in supporting her children's sports endeavors. Her professional life included clerical work for local churches and Cobb County schools, and she also served as secretary to Rev. Bill Bowen, District Superintendent of the Atlanta SW District of the Methodist Church. In last decade of life, Lynne resided at the Presbyterian Village in Austell, where she continued to touch the lives of many through her kindness and grace. She cherished the time spent with her many weekly visitors and embraced the new friendships she formed there. Lynne's faith was strong and evident in every aspect of her life. Her grace, patience and profound empathy were well known by others. Her family was the greatest beneficiary of her strong faith, as Lynne's primary goal in life was to enjoy, care for, and love her family unconditionally. A memorial service to celebrate Lynne's life will take place on Saturday, June 29th at 2:00 pm at the Powder Springs Chapel of Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home, 3940 Macland Road, Powder Springs, GA 30127. A visitation will precede the service beginning at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those wishing to express their sympathy consider making a donation to their favorite charity in Lynne's name. Lynne Johnson Vansant will be dearly missed, but her legacy of love, faith, and dedication will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:21)
