Marshall Gregory DeWolf

Marshall Gregory DeWolf was a man who fought hard and earned everything he had by hard work and determination. Marshall grew up in a poor family of 5 brothers, him being the 2nd oldest, just outside Detroit. The home they all shared was a single income home with only 2 bedrooms. The boys all shared space in the room not occupied by their parents and in the attic. As could be imagined, the winters were very cold. Marshall realized from a young age that anything he wanted, including clothing to wear, he would have to work for. He started at a young age with a paper route in order to buy his own clothing for school. In high-school he played football and was a force that most tended to stay away from. Marshall met his future wife Jessica in high-school. She was the head of the debate team and the hard nosed jock fell in love with her. Shortly after high school, Marshall was drafted to serve his nation in the Vietnam War. After returning from service they married and began their life together in Burea, KY. They moved to Detroit and several other cities in Michigan before moving to San Francisco, CA for 5 years. It was there that Marshall and Jessica would begin to slow their nomadic lifestyle and think about a family. After sometime, they were left with the option of adoption in order to further their dreams of raising a family. In the early 1980s they saw an ad for a family in Tennessee who needed to find a family, and they knew that this was their opportunity. After much expense, they were able to hold their new son, Eric in their hands. After a couple more years in California, they would move their family to Florida where Marshall and Jessica would raise their son. Marshall was a great inspiration to many while serving his time in the pharmaceutical industry and left a lasting memory on anyone he was associated with both in and outside of his work. After retirement, Marshall traveled the country in an airstream trailer before buying a home in Asheville, NC on his own side of a mountain. In Asheville he built connections with the community and local businesses before he and Jessica moved closer to their son and his family in Marietta, GA in 2020. Marshall is survived by his wife Jessica and his son Eric. He is also survived by 3 brothers and his grandchildren Kiela and Conall DeWolf. A Memorial Mass will be held at Transfiguration Catholic Church on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 2:00 PM. A reception will follow directly after the service at the DeWolf home.
