Mary Katherine McQueary

Mary Katherine was a beautiful baby born prematurely. She was a strong fighter and with the help of God she overcame many obstacles in her short life. She was loved deeply from the moment she was born. Her mother was at her bedside daily while she was in the hospital. Everyone who had the privilege and opportunity to meet Mary Katherine instantly fell in love with her. After almost four months in the NICU, surviving a heart surgery at only 3 months old, and making great progress she was able to come home to be with her family on August 3rd. For 10 days her beautiful presence elevated life at her family’s home. The time was cherished by her parents and joyous for her siblings. Unfortunately, her stay at home was short lived because she became ill with respiratory problems and was admitted back into the hospital on August 13. For a month she battled her illness with the grace that only the best of us can exhibit. Finally, Mary Katherine left this world to be with her Lord. She left the world just as she entered it, an angel. She fought the good fight and her race is over. Now she will receive her just reward of eternal rest with all the saints. She was merely a sojourner on this earth, as are we all, and has now returned home to her Father God. She touched and inspired so many lives in her short time on this earth. She will forever be missed, loved, and remembered. We thank God for giving us the five months we had with her. She is survived by her parents, John and Katherine; siblings, Michael, Ephraim and Lydia; grandparents, Barry and Johanna Roziewski, John and Sharon McQueary; great-grandparents, Ben and Doris Smith, John and Gladys Baxter, John Bocko; uncle, Erick Roziewski; and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Marilyn McQueary. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mary Katherine’s honor to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Her funeral service will be held Saturday, September 17th at 11:00 am at Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, 3431 Trickum Road Marietta, GA 30066. Interment will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery in Roswell, GA.
