Mary Frances Nation

Mary Frances Beavers Nation was born on September 19, 1933 to Hiram Leroy Sr. and Annie Will Jones Beavers. She met her Savior and joined her husband Charles Donald Nation Jr. (retired Atlanta Fire Rescue Department), son Bryan William, parents, aunts, uncles, and Brother Hiram Leroy “Bubba” Beavers Jr. on September 27, 2019 after a fight with cancer and congestive heart failure. She was the oldest of five children: Ann Olivia Beavers Smith (Robert), Sarah Rhunette Beavers Graves (Royce “Buzz”), Nancy Beavers Seagraves (Lewis), and Hiram Leroy “Bubba” Beavers Jr. (Nita). She is the loving mother of Michael Anthony Nation (Priscilla), Terry Allen Nation (Wanda), and Sandy Rhunette Nation Cash (Will). She is grandmother to Daniel Justin Nation (Heather), Cory Alfred Nation (Shelby), Matthew Allen Nation (Brooke), Casey Michael Nation, Callen Joseph Nation, Bailey Wilson Cash, and Andrew Allen Cash. She is great grandmother to Madison Grace Nation, Jacob Tyler Nation, Caroline Allegria Nation, Tobias Osmond Nation, and Audrey Ryan Nation. She has a large family of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her family is her pride and joy, and she loved us well. Our mother loved Jesus and told others about Him. She loved people well also. She has been a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church for over fifty-five years. She served faithfully in the church nursery. She helped prepare food for other families to help them while they grieved loved ones. She helped pack food boxes at Thanksgiving to help those in need in the community. She cleaned Mt. Pisgah to help earn money for her family. Early in her life, she worked at Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital and Marietta Hosiery. Later in life, she worked at Presbyterian Village in Dietary, and finally at White Columns Chapel, where she ministered to grieving families when she worked during visitations. She and our Dad were very active band parents for the South Cobb High School Band in different seasons to support and be involved in their children’s lives. She and Charles planned trips for groups, and they loved to travel. She lived a life of service throughout her life, and she passed this legacy on to her children who became firefighters and a special education teacher. Our mother loved to tell stories about her siblings, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and children she kept in the “nursery” at church. She loved to sing and play the piano. She admitted she didn’t read music, but she played the piano beautifully “by ear”. We often heard her playing “Jesus Loves Me”, “Jesus Loves the Little Children”, “Surely Goodness and Mercy” and her latest “It is Well with my Soul”, which she played on the piano often while at Presbyterian Village as a resident. Our family will receive friends and family at Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home (Macland Chapel) on Wednesday October 2, 2019 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM and Thursday October 3, 2019 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. A service to Celebrate her life will be Thursday October 3 at 2:00 in the chapel at the funeral home. The service will be officiated by Chaplain Larry Daniel from Crossroads Hospice and Chaplain Hal Cole. Her burial will be at Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, we are requesting new toys, and these will be donated to Hope for Christmas. This is a Christmas program which serves families in the local community.
