Michael Anthony Jones II

Michael Jones passed away on unexpectedly on January 23, 2023, at his home, in Acworth, Georgia due to an unknown medical condition. He was born in Goshen, New York on April 17th, 1995. The son of Michael Jones Sr. and Jacqueline Armstrong Jones. The older brother of Vanessa Jones. Michael was a graduate of Minisink Valley High School in Slate Hill, New York. He was very involved in school activities, including: drama productions, Chamber choir, sports and school spirit. Michael furthered his education by attending College in New York and Virginia. Aside from studies, Michael was very active in the Holy Cross Church also in Slate Hill, New York. He was a member of the teen group, volunteered his service to the community through the Church, and was an Alter server alongside his sister, Vanessa. After moving to Acworth, Georgia, Michael became a buyer for CarMax where he found his love of cars, which soon led to his purchase of his beloved red convertible. Although- his first love was the culinary arts. You could always find Michael in the kitchen trying new recipes while his family enjoyed being the risk takers. Michael enjoyed reading books of all genres. He was especially interested in philosophy, poetry and his Japanese heritage. You could always hear Michael singing in the shower to John Legend, Tori Kelly or Stevie Wonder. You could find him dancing with his mom in the kitchen while his father and sister laughed. He also found a sense of peace hiking mountains and trails all throughout Georgia. Michael always found a friend in anyone. He could light up a room with his big smile and white teeth (which he was so proud of). He enjoyed expanding his horizons by way of new cultures, religions and literature. Michael was a great trivia partner. He would most likely be your first pick for the Cash Cab (and a phone-a-friend). Michael was kind, generous, thoughtful, gentle, protective, loving and funny. Michael was predeceased by his great-grandparents Edgar (Buster) and Ruth Scott. Also by his grandparents, Wilbur John Jones, Wakako Saito Jones (Obachan) and James and Nancy Armstrong. Michael is survived by his loving parents, Michael and Jaqueline Jones, his sister Vanessa, his sidekick Mochi and his chosen sister Aimun. His Aunts Teri Jones, Jill Brundage, Doreen McGhee and Sandra Nearing. His Uncles John Paul Jones, Edgar (Chip) Jones, Mark Jones, John Brundage, James Tooley and Louis Nearing, along withhis 19 beloved cousins. Michael will always be remembered and never forgotten by his New York and Georgia friends. The visitation will be held at Mayes-Ward Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta, Georgia from 11:00am till 1:00pm on Sunday, January 29, 2023. A Catholic Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marietta, Georgia at 10:00am on Monday, January 30, 2023. Graveside services to immediately follow at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park in Marietta, Georgia.
