Michael Edward “Mike” Mundy, 79, of Powder Springs, GA passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 17, 2021, surrounded by his family. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021, at 10 o’clock at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marietta, GA with Monsignor John Walsh officiating. He will be laid to rest at Georgia National Cemetery on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at 2 o’clock. Mike is survived by his loving wife Paula Jane Mundy of Powder Springs, GA; daughters, Natalie Mundy and wife Heather of Powder Springs, GA, and Meredith White of Powder Springs, GA; sister, Kandice Lancaster and husband Dennis of Jacksonville, IL; grandchildren, Jacob and Callie. He is preceded in death by his father, Michael Mundy; mother, Dorothy Hogue; sister, Carolyn Mundy. Mike was born on Thursday, March 26, 1942, in West Frankfort, IL. He proudly served his country in the United States Airforce and retired after 20 years of service. He married the love of his life, Paula in 1977 and they had two daughters together. Mike had a personal relationship with God and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marietta for 38 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus for 25 years. Mike enjoyed traveling with Paula, as well as fishing, reading, and participating in church activities, but most of all he loved being with his family and especially his grandchildren. He had an enthusiastic sense of humor and loved to make people around him laugh. Mike was a good provider and a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His loving laugh and warm presence will be forever missed. Family will receive visitors at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Macland Chapel in Powder Springs on October 28, 2021, between the hours of 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM with a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 PM. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Mike’s name to St. Joseph St. Vincent DePaul Society.
