Mona Ruth Johns

Mona Ruth Johns, 94, of Kennesaw, Georgia, formerly of Jonesboro, Georgia, and Cincinnati, Ohio, died peacefully on April 4, 2017, at Heritage of Brookstone. Born September 9, 1922 in Braxton County, West Virginia, she is predeceased by her parents, Harry and Lucy Frame, her husband of 52 years, Robert Earl Johns, and her son, John Edward Johns. A graduate of Fairmont College of Nursing, Ruth served as a Registered Nurse in Washington, DC; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Atlanta, Georgia. In 1975 Ruth earned a Lifetime Achievement Award for her service by then Governor Jimmy Carter for her role as an advocate at Clayton County Children’s Protective Services. In her retirement, Ruth was a dedicated volunteer with Meals on Wheels. However, the job she loved most was being a caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was known for her hearty laugh, her kindness to animals, and taking in friends and family in time of need. A lifelong Methodist, most recently Ruth was a member of Forest Park United Methodist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. Ruth leaves behind her daughters, Judy Hockman (Ken) of Acworth, GA, and Barbara Claudepierre (Dan) of Sugarcreek Township, OH; her seven grandchildren, Kimberly Maddox (Joe Mascaro) of Louisville, KY; Kelly Frost (Darren) of Acworth, GA; Kyle Hockman (Cindy) of Acworth, GA; Ryan Hockman (Rose Fernandez) of Seattle, WA; Seth Claudepierre (Elise Yinger) of Santa Monica, CA; Tyler Claudepierre (Malarie) of Columbus, OH; Sarah Smith (Darryl) of Locust Grove, GA; and Phillip Johns of Savannah, GA; and her 13 great-grandchildren, Chase and Cole Maddox; Taylor, Mallory, Meredith, and Harrison Frost; Savanna and Bailey Hockman; Ben and Erik Hockman; Kayla and Skylar Johnson; and Bankston Smith. Ruth is also survived by two of her seven siblings, Virginia O’Dell of Cincinnati, OH, and Harry Frame, Jr., of Sutton, WV. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
