Nancy Balmes

Our beloved Nancy Ann Balmes entered eternal happiness surrounded by her loving family, at 3:33pm, on August 4, 2018. She was born on March 16, 1943, in her home, in Virginia, MN, to Nick and Rose (Altobelli) Alexander. Twins, Nancy and Bonnie, were only 20 minutes apart entering their earthly home, 75 years ago. In their last conversation, Nancy asked Bonnie to save her a spot, as promised, they were reunited 17 days apart into their Heavenly home. As a devout Catholic, she attended Marquette Catholic School through the 8th grade. Nancy graduated from Roosevelt High school, and attended Mesabi Range Community College. She moved to Milwaukee, WI, and worked as a computer operator, in the Engineering School, where she met her future husband. Bob claims as she walked in the room (to kick him out), that his ice cream melted immediately, and he knew she was the one. On June 16, 1967, she married Robert Balmes (also a twin), and together they had Deborah, and their own twins, Julie and Steven. She dedicated her life to raising their 3 children in unconditional love and faith. Nonna loved her 14 grandchildren, with another on the way, who is sure to have her kind spirit. Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Nick Alexander; mother, Rose (Altobelli) Alexander; step-father, Romie Stotz; brothers Richard (Dick) and Ralph Alexander and sister Christina (Tina) Novakovich, and her twin, Bonnie Kislia. She is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, Bob; children, Debby (Brian) Freel, Julie (Tom) Bolster, and Steve (Priscilla) Balmes. 14+ grandchildren in order by family and age: Kaylan Sikkel, Christopher, Katherine, Mary, and Jonathan Freel. Cassidy, Caleb, Camden, and Cienna Bolster. Jacob, Elijah, Noah, Rosie, Lilie, and baby Balmes. The family welcomes visitors Friday, August 10th, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Transfiguration Catholic Church, in the Family Life Center. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 11th at 2:00 p.m. at Transfiguration Catholic Church, Marietta, GA, by Msgr. Pat Bishop, with reception to follow in Bishop Hall.
