Nancy Stevenson Hadden

Nancy Jean Stevenson Hadden, born May 6, 1932 in Dayton, Ohio, died March 14, 2017 in her sleep. Her father, Dr. Ralph T. Stevenson, Col., USAF Retired; mother, Thelma; and her brother John T. Stevenson preceded her in death. As an “Army Brat", she lived on many U.S. Military Bases, including a Base in the Philippines. She attended eighteen schools before graduating from Sebring High School in Florida. She attended Stetson University where she joined Delta Delta Delta Sorority then transferred to the University of Florida, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and then taught Fashion Design at the University. In June 1956, she married Frank Hadden. They moved from Florida to Seattle for three years and then to Cobb County in 1963. They settled in their current home in West Marietta. She is survived by her husband, and two children: Craig Steven Hadden and Lynn Allison Hadden, both of Cobb County, Sister-in-Law Nikki Hadden Faulkner (Hank) of Austin, Texas, two granddaughters and two great-granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews. She became very active in Social and Volunteer life in Marietta and served as President of the Board of Directors of Cobb County Youth Museum for many years. She enjoyed her Garden, Bridge, Financial, Tennis, Birthday, and Dinner Clubs. She was a member of the Marietta First United Methodist Church and a member of the Jack Aaron Sunday School Class, Symphony Guild, The Delta Delta Delta Alumnae Association and P.E.O. Sisterhood. Nancy was a great friend with a large circle of friends. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. She loved to garden, or as she said “Dig in the Dirt”, and always wanted to be the first in Marietta to spot the Ruby-Throat Hummingbirds' arrival each spring. Another love of Nancy's was traveling. She enjoyed traveling with her daughter and friends to New York City at Christmastime. She made many "Space-A" Trips with her husband and friends to places such as Italy, Greece, South Africa, China, Argentina, New Zealand, France, Ireland, Germany, and the Czech Republic. One year, she and her daughter traveled to England and toured Scotland. She was a Den Mother for her son’s Cub Scout Troop and her daughter’s Girl Scout Brownie Troop. She suffered a severe stroke in 2012, and was a real trooper going through years of rehab sessions. In lieu of flowers, we prefer a donation to one or both of the following organizations: The Youth Museum of Cobb County at 649 Cheatham Hill Drive, Marietta, Georgia, 30064, and /or: Her Daughter's School, LaBelle Elementary Arts Integration Foundation at 230 Cresson Drive, Marietta, Georgia, 30060. Nancy's favorite color was coral. Everyone is invited to wear coral instead of black.
