Patricia 'Patti' Hames Hilderbrand

Patricia (Patti) Hames Hilderbrand, 72, of Marietta, GA , beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 from a lengthy health battle. She is predeceased by her parents, former Cobb Superior Court Judge Luther C. Hames, Jr. and Kathryn Johnson Hames. Patti grew up in Marietta, attending West Side Elementary and a graduate of Marietta High School, Class of 1970. She attended Mercer University and graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1974. Patti obtained a Masters degree in Special Education from Georgia State University with a degree in hearing impairment. She was an employee of Marietta City Schools from 1975 to 2006 with 31 years of service. Patti loved the students, her teacher friends and staff, and entire Marietta City community that she served. Patti has been a long-time resident of Cobb County. She was an active part of the community and involved at First Baptist Church Marietta where she taught Sunday School for many years. Patti’s absolute favorite past time was spending quality time with her beloved four grandchildren. Following Patti’s retirement from teaching, she served as Secretary of the Georgia Chapter of the World Organization of China Painters. Patti enjoyed sharing her artistic talent in her private art studio with her sister, grandchildren and friends. China painting was not the only medium she enjoyed, she was talented in acrylics and oil paintings as well. Patti had a passion for travel and enjoyed trips to Scotland, Italy, France, England and Ireland to name a few of her favorite destinations. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Marietta GA, with Rev. Brandon Owen and Minister Paul Reeves officiating. Visitation with the family will be held following the service. Patti is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Ken Hilderbrand; her children Katie Hilderbrand Hammett (Jason) of Marietta, GA and Kelli Hilderbrand Moore (Jonathan) of Marietta, GA; her grandchildren Hudson Hammett, Caroline Moore, Stella Hammett and Avery Moore; two sisters Lucia Hames of Marietta, GA, Kaye Coker (Jim) of Grayson, GA; and a host of nephew and nieces.
