R. Alan Varnadoe, 68, of Powder Springs, GA. passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2022. A Memorial Service will be held in his honor on Friday, November 4, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Macland Chapel with Rev. Barry Lancaster officiating. Family has asked in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Alan’s name to the American Cancer Society at donate3.cancer.org Alan is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Dana Helton of Powder Springs, GA; two sons, Jason Varnadoe & partner Niki Ayers and grandson Pierce Varnadoe of Panama City, FL and A. John Varnadoe, wife Angee and grandson Maxwell Varnadoe of Buckhead, GA; mother, Dean King and two brothers, Phil Varnadoe & Mike King of Cartersville, GA; nephew Jake Brumbelow; aunt, Barbara Varnadoe and cousins, Stan Varnadoe and Mandy Varnadoe. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Varnadoe; stepmother, Vivian Varnadoe; stepfather, Bobby King, sister Sue Brumbelow. Roy Alan Varnadoe was born Saturday, April 10, 1954, in Atlanta, GA to Roy Varnadoe & Dean Henson. After graduating North Fulton High, he attended Georgia Tech graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in business. He married the love of his life, Dana Helton, and they enjoyed thirty-one wonderful years together. Alan had a very strong work ethic & worked as Liquid Products Supervisor at Golden State Foods for 25 years. He had a love of the outdoors, hunting & Bass fishing with his best friend Pat Ramsey and later playing golf. Alan enjoyed sports, from playing semi-pro baseball, boxing and working on racing pit crews in his younger years to later watching Georgia Tech Football & Braves Baseball. He loved animals and shared the love of raising horses on their Powder Springs farm. Alan was an extremely smart man with a quick wit and a strong sense of humor. He had a strong outer shell, with a tender heart. He was the best example he could be for his children and grandchildren. Alan was a loving husband and he loved being part of the Helton family. His presence will be forever missed by many. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022, 10:00 AM followed by service 11:00 AM at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Macland Chapel.
