Richard William Kinzel

Richard W. Kinzel aged 82 of Marietta, GA passed away Sept 21, 2016 surrounded by family. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, the oldest of four children to William and Elsie Kinzel. He leaves behind a large and loving family: wife Elizabeth of 61 years and eight children: Mary of South Plainfield, NJ; Deborah Perrone and spouse Matthew of Plymouth, MA; William and spouse Mari Kakuno of South Plainfield, NJ; Julie Frazier and spouse J.D. of Marietta, GA; Jennifer DeMarco and spouse Anthony of Amherst, NH; Seth and spouse Linda Kinzel of Plymouth, MA; Margaret Hanlan and spouse James of Trooper, PA; Richard and spouse Stephanie Kinzel of Plymouth, MA. He will also be sorely missed by his 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, sister Joanne Reinheimer and her husband Eugene of Reading, PA, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters Susan DeGeorge and Barbara Kramlich and granddaughters Karen Perrone and Kelsey Hanlan. Growing up in Sinking Spring, PA, Richard undertook many money-making endeavors including delivering vegetables, running errands, fixing cars and working as an apprentice to a home builder. Upon graduation from high school, he served his country in the U.S. Army Signal Corps as specialist 2nd class for three years. While stationed at Fort Devens, MA he met his beloved wife, Elizabeth (Donahue). Together they raised eight children while he worked in the book printing business in various companies in Cambridge, MA (Cuneo Press), LaPorte, Indiana (Plimpton Press), Brattleboro, VT (Book Press) and Stoughton, MA (Alpine Press). He transitioned to print salesman for MacDonald & Evans of Braintree, MA and then J.M. Perrone Co. of Weymouth, MA where he made friends with all he met. He was known for his knowledge, honesty, kindness, and work ethic, along with baking a mean coffee cake for his clients. After retiring, he and Elizabeth moved from Hull, MA to Marietta, GA where he worked at Wild Birds Unlimited and started his own business, Rain Barrels by Richard. He was very involved with teaching water conservation and was active in Keep North Fulton Beautiful. Despite his busy work schedule and involvement with his family, he had many interests: staff member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary in Hull, MA; member of Town Planning Board and church board member in Marlborough, NH; past president of Book Binders Guild of New England, and member of the board of directors and treasurer of the South Shore Ad Club. He had a lifelong love of fishing, woodworking and enjoying Pennsylvania Dutch food. He will be missed by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Michael Perrone, his wife Rachel and their children Sophia and Dylan; Alex Perrone; Christopher, Joshua and Matthew Kinzel; Tony, Nicholas and Michael DeMarco; Kira Hanlan, her husband Seamus Dougherty and their children Fiona, Maeve, Coleen and Finnegan; Nathaniel and Abigail Kinzel, and Elizabeth Frazier. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, September 30, 2016 at Peachtree Christian Church, 1580 Peachtree Street, NW, Atlanta, GA 30309. Visitation is from 10-10:45 am. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a charity of your choice in memory of Richard William Kinzel.
