Richard "Richie" Crawford Foster

Richard “Richie” Crawford Foster, age 55, went to be with our Lord on April 6, 2021. Although Richie was a resident of Marietta, he was born in Macon and raised in Warner Robins, Georgia. Richie was proud of his Christian faith and became saved at a young age while sitting in a deer stand. He was a member of Roswell Street Baptist Church and most recently attended North Metro Church located in Marietta, Georgia. Richie graduated from Northside High School in Warner Robins, Georgia. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Georgia College State University in Milledgeville, Georgia. Richie earned his Juris Doctorate Degree from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. Richie was a very successful defense attorney for over 25 years, most recently as a partner at Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers, LLP. Richie served as lead counsel in more than 100 jury trials throughout his career, often defending clients involved in serious accidents that resulted in catastrophic injuries and death. Richie also led the firm's 24-hour emergency response team that leverages a broad network of investigators and accident reconstruction experts throughout Georgia and the Southeast to assess the details of an incident and assist with next steps. Richie was a member of American Bar Association, Defense Research Institute, Trucking Law Committee, Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel, Georgia Defense Lawyers Association, Southeast Wood Producers Association, State Bar of Georgia, Transportation Law Association, and the Trucking Industry Defense Association. He also served on the board of directors at Waterview Towers, located in Destin, Florida. Richie is survived by his wife of 23 years, Jodee Gentry Foster; his two sons, Benjamin Crawford Foster and Matthew Crawford Foster; his mother and father, Kay and Wendell Barker; his brothers Christopher Phillips, Jason Barker (Joyce), and Jonathan Barker; his sisters Rebecca Foster Tong, Hillary Foster Pennington, and Alex Foster Howell (Glenn); his aunts Dianne Williams, Betsy Foster and Kathryn Foster White; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, David Crawford Foster, and his aunt, Helen Foster Pate. Richie was deeply loved and admired by his family and friends. He was a devoted father, husband, friend, brother, and son. In his spare time, Richie loved offshore fishing in Destin, Florida. He also loved hunting, fly-fishing, camping, running marathons, kayaking, coaching baseball, cooking, watching Braves baseball and UGA football,and walking his favorite golden retriever, Stella.Richie will be forever admired, loved, and missed. The visitation will be Saturday April 17, 2021 at Mayes, Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home, located at 180 Church Street in Marietta Georgia, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family graveside service will be on Sunday, April 18, 2021, at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Macon, Georgia.
