Rodney Mickwee

It is with profound sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of Rodney Mickwee, a beloved father, grandfather, and husband, on February 22, 2025. Rodney is survived by his devoted wife, Dorothy; his daughters, Kristi, Jessica, and Lauren; and his cherished grandchildren, Jake, Charlie, and Ellie. Born on December 3, 1954, in Miami, Florida, Rodney shared a deep bond with his family, especially his sisters, Liana and Diane, with whom he remained close throughout his life. He had a special place in his heart for his parents and was always involved in their lives and brought them endless pride and happiness. One of Rodney’s greatest joys was sharing his love for baseball and football with his father. The two rarely missed watching a Dolphins or Braves game together, and if they couldn’t watch together, they would spend the entire game on the phone, analyzing every play! When Rodney met his wife, Dorothy, he immediately fell head over heels in love. It wasn’t long before the two were married and starting their family together. Rod and Dorothy were married for an incredible 46 years, and spent their years truly devoted to one another. They focused on raising their daughters together and being the most present and devoted parents in the world. Rodney’s love and support for his three children — Kristi, Jessica, and Lauren —was endless. His family knew that he was always there for them no matter what. Rodney would tell you that his life changed in the most special way when he became a grandfather. Rodney adored his three grandchildren, Jake, Charlie, and Ellie May. Watching them grow, change, learn, and play sports were among some of his happiest and most cherished memories. He always knew how to make them laugh and smile with his silly demeanor and playful antics. They will miss their Papi so much but will hold the happy memories close in their hearts forever. We will be holding a small funeral service to celebrate Rodney’s life on March 1st at 11:00 AM at St. Clare's Catholic Church, located at 6301 Cedarcrest Rd, Acworth, GA 30101.
