Ronald W. “Ronnie” Kirkendoll, 74, of Powder Springs, GA passed away suddenly on Monday, December 5, 2022, in Lawrenceville, GA. A Funeral Service will be held in his honor on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Macland Chapel with Rev. Alan Davis officiating. He will be laid to rest at Mountain View Park Cemetery directly following the service. Family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Ronnie’s name to Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org or to First Baptist Church of Powder Springs at 4330 North Avenue, Powder Springs, GA US 30127. Ronnie is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Susan Petty Kirkendoll of Powder Springs, GA; sons, Chad Kirkendoll & wife Samantha of Cartersville, GA and Kelly Kirkendoll and wife Alyssa of Acworth, GA; two grandsons; 2 granddaughters; sister-in-law, LaVern Dowdy; and several cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn & Katherine Kirkendoll. Ronald Wilburn Kirkendoll was born Wednesday, December 10, 1947 in Marietta, Georgia to Wilburn & Katherine Kirkendoll. He married the love of his life and best friend, Susan Petty in 1969 and they had 53 wonderful years together. Ronnie worked for over 20 years at Equifax before retiring from Jones Lang LaSalle in 2010. He had a close personal relationship with God, and he and Susan worshipped together at the First Baptist Church of Powder Springs for 40 years. Ronnie was an avid sports fan and loved watching McEachern and Georgia Tech football. He also enjoyed coaching youth baseball and basketball for many years. Ronnie enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether he was working in the yard, playing with the dogs, or just swinging & rocking on the porch swing with Susan listening to their favorite music. Ronnie had an attachment to the old Lost Mountain store because of his grandfather, and as a result he built a replica of it in his back yard. Together he and Susan would look for antiques or go “junkin” to find things to put inside the store he built. Ronnie loved people and he never met a stranger. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Ronnie’s presence will be forever missed. A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Macland Chapel.
