Ruth M. Rooks

Ruth McGuire Rooks, age 76, died at Cartersville Medical Center on Tuesday, September 8, 2009, following a courageous battle with breast cancer. The family has planned a private ceremony out of town. Mrs. Rooks was born August 12, 1933 in Douglas County, Georgia where she resided for most of her life. She is the daughter of the late George Marvin McGuire and the late Janie Roper McGuire Young. Ruth was married to James Rooks for 54 years, who preceded her in death in January, 2006. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Young Robb of Bull Head City, NV. At the time of her death she was retired from the Department of Defense at Eglin Air Force Base, Niceville, FL. She loved traveling and gourmet cooking; but, most of all loved her family. She is survived by her daughter, Gwen Rooks Wright of Freeport, FL; son & daughter-in-law, Greg & Marcia Rooks of Kennesaw, GA; son & daughter-in-law, Chris & Liz Rooks of Cartersville, GA; son & daughter-in-law, Jeff & Tammy Rooks of Hiram, GA; granddaughter, Leslee Young & husband Tim of Holt, FL; grandson, Kevin Rooks of Cartersville, GA; granddaughter, Holly Rooks & Chris Miller of Kennesaw, GA; granddaughter, Kristen Rooks Gentry & husband Jake of Adairsville, GA; grandson, Craig Rooks of Kennesaw, GA; grandson, Kyle Rooks & fiancé, Ashlee Gurnee of Cartersville, GA; grandson, Jake Wright of Freeport, FL; granddaughter, Susannah Wright of Freeport, FL and grandson, Jay Williams & wife Tammie of Cartersville, GA. She was blessed with her first great grandchild in 2008, Henderson James Young. Survivors also include, brother & sister-in-law, Cole “Buddy” and Judy Young of Alpharetta, GA; sister, Betty McGuire Bell of Villa Rica, GA. She is also survived by many loving nieces & nephews.
