Sherry Turner Corey

Sherry Turner Corey, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on September 20, 2024 after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer, at the age of 71. Born in Marietta, GA, Sherry graduated from Marietta High School. Sherry and Larry met in 1997 and later married on February 7, 2008. They made their home in Smyrna and loved entertaining friends and family at their historic 1900’s home. After convincing her 2 sisters, Terri and Vickie, that they all needed to enroll in college in their forties, they all graduated together with a Bachelor’s of Business Management Degree. Upon leaving corporate America, Sherry later went on and found joy in her 2nd career as a Realtor where she loved helping people find the home of their dreams. Sherry is survived by her devoted husband Larry Corey; her children Spence Travis, Brandon Travis (Jamie), Maggie Guest (Jason) and stepchildren Alan Corey (Sadia) and Jill Corey; 11 Grandchildren: Skylar, Caden, Leo, Tatum, Tyson, Zain, Colt, Dylan, Nyle, Brody and Ellis. She also leaves behind her siblings Steve Turner, Terri Waldron and Vickie Hunt and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Gene and Mildred “Peggy” Turner. Known as Mama Shay to her grandkids, she loved to attend their sporting events, school plays and Grandparents Day. During her and Larry’s travels all around the world, Sherry won everyone over with her kind heart and adventurous spirit. Two of her most recent passions were hiking every week with her hiking club and volunteering at Northside Hospital with NICU babies. She loved the beach, the mountains and anywhere she could explore and see new things. Sherry’s passing has left a void that can never be filled but her memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her. A Celebration of Life to honor Sherry will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home, located at 180 Church St, Marietta, GA 30060. The family will receive friends at 10 AM with the celebration to begin at 11 AM. Please come dressed casually in bright colors!
