Warren Howard Melville

Warren H. Melville of Marietta passed away on December 21 at Emory St. Joseph Hospital after many years of ill health. Warren was born January 8, 1943 to Warren Hardesty Melville and Louise Goodrich Melville in Queens, NY. His parents returned to his father’s hometown of Ft. Thomas, KY before he was one year old. He was educated in Ft. Thomas schools and graduated from Ft. Thomas Highlands H.S. in 1961. After high school, he first attended U. of KY but later transferred to U. of Cincinnati where he received both his B.S. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering. Several years later he worked on his MBA at the U. of Rochester in NY. Warren was employed in the agribusiness field as an engineer/middle manager in various locations for many years. In 1990, he decided to move to consulting engineering, first in St. Louis, MO at the Sverdrup Co. and later at Facility Group in Smyrna, GA. He was also known as an expert in military relics particularly pre-WWII Automatic Weapons and as such advised various gun book authors and the government. He also served as the President of the Orville Dunham Collectors Assn. in Decatur, IL and as an officer of A.C.O.G in Atlanta. Other memberships included the River Bend Gun Club and the McCleskey-East Cobb YMCA. He was baptized in Christ at an early age in the Christian (Disciples of Christ) Church, Ft. Thomas, KY. Survivors include Elizabeth Melville, his wife of 48 years; daughter, Angela (Jonathan) Melville-Young of Hall County, GA; son, Warren H. (Tiffany) Melville of Forsyth Co, GA; three grandchildren, Madison Melville, Warren (Trey) Melville, and Cody Melville; two cousins, Dr. Anita (Thomas) Licata of Burlington, VT and Eric Goodrich of Cincinnati, OH. He was preceded in death by two cousins, Howard Goodrich of Cincinnati, OH and former Mayor Charles Melville (Jean) of Southgate, KY. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta. Memorial Service and Burial will be at the Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati, OH in Melville/Hardesty family plot at a later date. Family requests no flowers.
