Coil Barnett Dunn, Sr.

October 3, 1944 - December 17, 2021

Mr. Coil Barnett Dunn, son of Annie Dillard Dunn, father Willie Dunn and stepson of David Dillard, was born on October 3, 1944 in Athens, Georgia. Coil was called home on December 17, 2021 after an extended illness. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Macland Chapel. Coil lived a full life after graduating from Athens High industrial School. He married Lula Mae Howard and had two sons, Coil and Keith. He also began his work career at Robert P Gray Engineering as lead Draftsman and CAD Designer. The company was later sold to Keck & Wood. Coil retired from the company in 1999. He was a man of many gifts and continued working as a craftsman, an architect, and a handyman at various businesses such as Jordan, Jones, and Goulding before retiring in 2002. He was a supportive father who engaged in sporting events and his sons’ work careers. He was loved by his grandchildren and daughters-in-law as well as many family members and friends. He leaves to cherish his precious memories his two sons, Coil(Kathy) of San Diego, CA, and Keith(Stephanie) of Dallas, GA, grandsons, Christopher and Bradley, granddaughters, Kara and Layla, nephew Tony Hill, and family. He is preceded in death by his mother Annie Barnett Dunn Dillard and stepfather George Dillard, sister, Tillie Ann Dunn Hill, and nephew Bobby Hill. A visitation is scheduled for December 22, 2021 between the hours of 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Macland Chapel.
