Imogene "Jean" Bragg Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Imogene “Jean” Bragg age 97, passed into the nearer presence of God on December 4, 2021. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, Sr in 2011 and is survived by stepdaughter Pat Jackson, stepson Raymond, Jr. (Lynn) and son Stephen (Jennifer). Affectionately known as Nana Jean and Granny Jean by her seven grandchildren (Julie, Bob, Hudson, Rachael, Braxton, Tyler and Beau) and her four great-grandchildren (Spencer, Sadie, Jackson and Layla) she was much loved by all. She was born on November 26, 1924 in her grandmother’s house in the mountains of Lakemont, Georgia to Arnold Luther and Zoie Davis. She had five siblings who have all passed. She attended Lakemont High School graduating as Salutatorian of her class of 1942. After graduating from high school, she moved to Atlanta and went to work at Bellsouth as a telephone operator. She said later this was her favorite job she held through her life. In 1952 she took a cross-country road trip with three friends to visit Colorado, New Mexico, the Grand Canyon, California and back. An amazing trip to go cross country in that era. In 1954 she married Walter Price of Athens, Ga in June who unfortunately passed a month later from pancreatitis. Through a friend from work she met a businessman, Raymond Bragg who was a widower with two children. After three proposals Jean and Raymond wed in 1959 and went on to share 50 years together. She loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family. Jean also worked helping Raymond with his commercial laundry and dry cleaning business, returning to BellSouth in the 1970’s where she retired from the drafting department after 25 combined years with the phone company. After retirement she enjoyed traveling on a dream trip to Hawaii with her husband Raymond and a trip to Europe with her sister-in-law, Jane Bragg. Other favorite trips included a trip to The World’s Fair in Canada. She will always be remembered for her complete devotion to family and sweet, kind and giving spirit. A memorial will be held Friday December 10 at 12 noon in the Chapel of Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home at 180 Church Street in Marietta, GA. Interment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park. The family will receive friends between the hours of 11 AM until 12 noon Friday at the Funeral Home.
