Lauris Ferguson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Lauris Ferguson, passed into eternal life to be with her Creator and Savior, on July 14, 2022, just three months away from her 100th birthday. She was of a clear, sound and mischievous mind just weeks before passing. When she couldn't speak, she wrote notes, saying how much she loved all her family. A lifelong Marietta, Georgia, resident, Lauris lived life to the fullest. She loved to dance, to laugh, travel, shop, visit friends, and to be with people. She was a member of the graduating class of Marietta High School of 1940. She worked all her life, raised her family and retired from the Cobb County Tax Office after twenty-eight years of dedicated service. Lauris was preceded in death by her husband, James Colman Ferguson, in December 2000 and her son-in- law Bobby Bledsoe in February 2021. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Bledsoe of Montgomery, AL; son Ron Ferguson (Margie) of Marietta; grandchildren Brian Bledsoe of Huntsville, AL; Cindy Cox (Mark) Montgomery, AL; Michael Ferguson, Atlanta & Dalton, GA; (Michael's mother, Brenda Frazier, Villa Rica, GA); step-grandson, David Kundak (Beverly) and daughter Riley, Marietta, GA. Two great-grandsons Colman Bradwell (Morgan) of Mobile, AL; William Bradwell (Madi) of Auburn, AL; and a great-great granddaughter, Norah James Bradwell of Mobile, AL, whom she was able to meet, love and visit with several times. A visitation with be held Thursday, July 21, 2022, 1:00 pm in the chapel of Historic Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home on Church Street, Marietta, and her celebration of life at 2:00 pm. Due to the hot weather, comfortable, casual dress is recommended. In lieu of flowers please make donations to her church, Eastwood Baptist Church, in her memory, 1150 Allgood Road, Marietta, GA. 30062. The grass withers and the flowers fade but the Word of God stands for eternities.
