Mark Edward Seewoester

December 15, 1962 - April 29, 2022

Mark Edward Seewoester passed away peacefully on Friday, April 29th after bravely battling esophageal cancer. Mark was born on December 15, 1962, to Arthur John and Martha Jean nee Jackson Seewoester, Jr. in Dallas, Texas, the youngest of their four children. His childhood and adolescence were happily spent in Kirkwood, Missouri, where he also met the love of his life, Patricia (“Patty”) Ann Seewoester, nee van Goidsenhoven, at Kirkwood High School. Mark attended Southwest Missouri State University and Drury University, graduating with a degree in Business before embarking on his 30-plus year career with Georgia Pacific, now BlueLinx, in the building products division. Mark and Patty celebrated 35 wonderful years of marriage on April 25th. They welcomed their two sons, John Edward, and Adam Jacob, while living in St. Louis, and the family moved to Atlanta in 1997, where they quickly put down deep roots and formed a wonderful community of friends. Mark dedicated his time and talents to his family and community, rarely missing any of Adam’s baseball games or John’s lacrosse games and volunteering with the church, Boy Scouts, baseball league, and his sons’ schools. He was a generous and loyal friend who made others feel heard and appreciated, and he was always ready with a well-timed joke and easy smile to brighten your day. Mark was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. He fought his Stage IV cancer diagnosis with cheer and determination and never lost his optimism, regardless of how many curveballs his illness threw his way. He maintained his sense of humor to the end and devoted his remaining energy to loving his family dearly. Mark is survived by his wife Patty, son John Seewoester (Bethany), son Adam Seewoester (Avery Peterson), granddaughter Felicity Seewoester, brother Frederick (“Fred”) Seewoester (Anna), sister Susan Brethauer (Kerry), brother Douglas (“Doug”) Seewoester (Kimberly), and many nieces, nephews, and friends. As he enters his eternal home, he will be joining his dear father, Arthur, and mother, Martha. Mark’s favorite times were spent with his family and friends, enjoying each other’s company, traveling, cooking, and watching sports (Go Cardinals and Go Dawgs!). His wonderful laugh, genuine smile, and warm hugs will live on in our hearts forever. A celebration of life service for Mark will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Presbyterian Church, 5323 Bells Ferry Road, Acworth, Georgia 30102. Following the service, the family will gather with friends at the Chestnut Hill subdivision clubhouse. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to MUST Ministries (www.mustministries.org) or Wellstar Community Hospice (www.wellstar.org/community/foundation/ways-to-give/give-to-hospice
