Patricia J. Gay

March 20, 1943 - March 23, 2022

Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Patricia Catherine Jacob Gay of Marietta, GA passed away peacefully at Tranquility, Kennesaw Mountain, on March 23, 2022, at the age of 79, surrounded by family. Patricia was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 20, 1943. She attended St. Anthony’s Catholic School, graduated from Bishop McDonald High School and later attended St. John’s University. She enjoyed spending time with friends in Greenpoint, attending Friday night dances, visiting Sun Tan Lake with her family, and listening to Pat Boone and the Everly Brothers. Transferring with Eastern Airlines in 1969, Patricia moved to Atlanta, where she started her family. Later working for British Caledonian Airways and Japan Airlines, she retired from Delta Air Lines as an Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Sales. Patricia was a world traveler and enjoyed visiting all 50 states, Europe and Asia. Australia, Hawaii, and California were her favorite places. She frequented the Caribbean Islands where one could always find her lying on the beach reading a novel. She will be remembered for sharing her hilarious stories of traveling adventures and experiences, as well as more serious encounters with earthquakes while visiting San Francisco and Naples, Italy. Her hobbies included reading, playing Scrabble, and watching Jeopardy. Originally a New York Mets fan, she became an Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed doing the Tomahawk chop. Her favorite ice cream flavors were maple walnut and butter pecan, and her smiley face “P” and gold hoop earrings were her signature style. After retiring, Patricia enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren; reading, playing in the pool, attending piano and violin concerts, and swim meets, made her happy. Playing board games and watching movies with them brought her immeasurable joy. Her grandchildren enjoyed frequent visits with her and always made her smile. Patricia is preceded in death by her parents Al and Catherine Jacob. She is survived by her daughter Janice Turner (Clark), sister Karen Jacob, brother Al Jacob (Diane), grandchildren Mitchell, Ashton, and Tyler Turner, niece Kaitlin Jacob, nephews Brian Jacob (Maya) and Craig Jacob, grand niece Olivia Jacob, and grand nephews Sean, Christopher and Ryan Jacob. Visitation will be held at Mayes Ward Funeral Home, 180 Church St. NE, Marietta, GA on Monday, April 4, 2022 from 5-7 PM, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Josephs’ Catholic Church, 87 Lacy St. NW, Marietta, GA on Tuesday, April 5 at 10:00 AM.
