Valeria Campbell Barton 97, passed away on December 6, 2020. She was born June 6, 1923 in Miami, Florida. She graduated from Redland High School in Homestead, Florida. She married Harold Barton in 1945 and followed him all over the world with the US Air Force and Rotary International. She is survived by her daughters Donna Lynch (David) and Marcia Miller (Doug) and her son Col. Harold Barton Jr (Gail). She had 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She settled in Marietta in 1959 when Harold was transferred from Japan and they never left. They were faithful members of 1st United Methodist Church since 1960. She was a life-long volunteer. Among her many places that she volunteered were 1st United Methodist Church, the recovery room at WellStar Kennestone Hospital for 30 years, Dobbins ARB Thrift Shoppe for 35+ years and Atherton Place in the Library, Ceramic shop, and anywhere else at Atherton when they needed a helping hand. She moved to Atherton Place in 2009 where she was a very active resident. She served on the Residents’ Council for several years and served as the chairman. She loved playing Hand and Foot, traveling with Willis Tours and going to the Rome Braves baseball games with her friends at Atherton. She was an avid tracker of hurricanes (having her own tracking map), and avid reader. She read the Marietta Journal and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution religiously every day. At 9am every morning she could be found with fellow resident Bill Carrington in the stationary bike room peddling away. A private graveside service was held with immediate family in attendance. Contributions may be made to WellStar Hospice in her memory. A life well lived!
