Alexander W. O’Brien, 34, of Portland, OR, formerly of Powder Springs, GA passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at 12:00 PM at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Macland Chapel in Powder Springs, GA. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Alex’s name to Possumbilities at https://www.possumbilitiesinc.com/ or 5981 Chamberlain Road Lafayette, GA 30728 Alex is survived by his mother, Karen O’Brien; sisters, Ashleigh O’Brien & Adrienne O’Brien Moore & her husband Eric Moore; nephews, Connor Robinson, Jace Moore, Axel Moore, & Everett Moore; partner, Eddy Fernandez; numerous aunts & uncles; cousins; and friends. Alex was born Tuesday, September 15, 1987, in Snellville, GA. He is the beloved son of Karen O’Brien and loving brother of Ashleigh & Adrienne. Alex grew up in Powder Springs, GA. As a young man he enjoyed playing soccer, lacrosse, and skateboarding, he had a fearless spirit often pushing his own limits just to see if he could meet his next goal. He had a love for music, he dabbled in playing the guitar but, really, he enjoyed listening to music, it had a way of speaking to him, and he would often escape into it to help him through challenging times. Alex’s greatest passion, however, was his art, Alex was a truly gifted artist and expressed himself through the tattoos he created for people. Everyone loved Alex’s work and he was often sought after for his gift of artistry. He was a man of many talents and was a master at anything he put his mind to. Alex was a bright light in so many people’s lives. He was a good and genuine person; he was a gentle guy with a big heart for people and animals. Throughout his life Alex had a love for animals, from dogs, to cats, to horses, to saving worms from drowning in mud puddles, Alex was always looking out for his furry and not so furry friends. This was a trait he carried with him through his life, and when he found a baby opossum abandoned on the side of the road, he took him home and named him Pickles and nursed him back to health, because nothing brought him greater joy than taking care of those around him. Alex was a kind and loving, son, brother, and partner. From now on our world is a little less, and heaven is a little more. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022, between the hours of 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Macland Chapel.
