B. Sue Riggs

B. Sue Riggs, 94, of Marietta, GA, formerly of Nickerson, KS, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, January 13, 2023 in Marietta, GA. A Memorial Service will be held in her honor on February 4th at 2:00 PM at Mayes Ward Dobbins Macland Chapel with Rev. Hal Cole officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Beverly Sue Riggs was born Monday, July 2, 1928, in Hutchinson, KS to Jimmy & Winifred Abbott. She married her best friend and the love of her life, Donald E. Riggs in 1948 and they had 69 wonderful years together until he passed in 2017. Don & Sue had a family farm in Nickerson, KS for 45 years, before moving to Georgia in their later years to be close to family. She and Don had a close personal relationship with God and worshipped together for 45 years at the Midland UCC in Sterling, KS. Sue worked as a nurse in a pediatric doctors office for many years in Hutchinson, KS and after leaving there she was the school nurse at Nickerson, KS at USD309. Sue was always well known in the community of Nickerson because of her position of the school nurse and was often called on for advice. Sue enjoyed playing tennis, and card games like Rummy, but most of all she loved making wood carvings. She made many beautiful carvings over the years. Sue was a servant to all, and always had a great concern for others. She was a constant caregiver to anyone in need. Sue was a great believer in always doing the right thing and always did her best to make sure things worked out for the best. She was passionate about her family, and loved spending time with them whenever she could. Her caring and loving nature will be forever missed. Sue is survived by her sons, J. Chris Riggs & wife Stacey of Fallbrook, CA and Scott Riggs & wife Michele of Acworth, GA; grandchildren, Jessica Schak (Michael) of Cumming, GA, Megan Pigott (Matthew) of Canton, GA, Molly Savadelis (Nicholas) of Kalamazoo, MI, Monica Riggs of Newala, OK, Charity Sue Riggs of San Diego, CA, Logan Riggs of Fallbrook, CA, and Cooper Riggs of Fallbrook, CA; 7 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Riggs and her son, Michael P. Riggs.
