Carmen Altagracia Disla Ulloa

Carmen Altagracia Disla, “Ninina”, passed away peacefully at her home on May 22, 2021 aged 78. She was born in Mao, Valverde in the Dominican Republic. She was the oldest daughter of Marcelino Disla and Rosa Francisco. She was a professor well versed in physics, chemistry, biology and math. She taught at the Pontificia Universidad CatólicaMadre y Maestra in the city of Santiago, D.R., as well as at the Colegio de la Salle in the same city. Later she went on to work at the Ministry of Education where her expertise was needed. On some afternoon students would come by the house to be tutored by her on the aforementioned subjects. On her spare time, she enjoyed designing and making clothes, doing embroidery and crafts. She used those skills to make dresses for her and lots of family members to wear during special occasions. She was truly passionate about fashion, so her hobby was to be a seamstress while having a presidente beer to cool off on hot weekends. As a mother, she made all kinds of sacrifices, the ones only parents can make, to make sure her children had food to eat, clothes to wear, and receive the best education possible to set them on a path for success. She is preceded in death by her parents, Marcelino Disla and Rosa Francisco, her husband Alberto ‘Cuco’ Ulloa, and her siblings Sofía and Evaristo. She is survived by her children Luis and Alberto, and her siblings, Juan Luis, Enmanuel and Carmen Dolores. A private service will be held in her memory on Saturday, May29, 2021. ERA LAMAYOR DE LAS HEMBRAS DE MARCELINO DISLA Y ROSA FRANCISCO. SE DESTACÓ COMO PROFESORA DE FÍSICA, QUÍMICA, BIOLOGÍA Y MATEMÁTICAS. DIO CÁTEDRA EN LA PONTIFICIA UNIVERSIDAD MADRE Y MAESTRA EN LA CIUDAD DE SANTIAGO, R.D., TAMBIÉN ENSEÑÓ EN EL COLEGIO DE LA SALLE DE LA MISMA CIUDAD. POSTERIORMENTE SE TRASLADÓ AL MINISTERIO DE EDUCACIÓN DONDE SU CONOCIMIENTO ERA VALORADO. EN ALGUNAS TARDES VARIOS DE SUS ESTUDIANTES PASABAN POR LA CASA PARA RECIBIR TUTORÍA DE PARTE DE ELLA EN LAS MATERIAS YA MENCIONADAS. DURANTE SU TIEMPO LIBRE SE DEDICABA A DISEÑAR Y CONFECCIONAR PRENDAS DE VESTIR, BORDADOS Y MANUALIDADES. USÓ SU DESTREZA EN COSTURA PARA HACER LOS VESTIDOS DE ELLA Y SUS FAMILIARES PARA OCACIONES ESPECIALES. TENÍA PASIÓN POR LA MODA, SU PASATIEMPO ERA COSER MIENTRAS DEGUSTABA UNA CERVEZA PRESIDENTEFRÍA DURANTE LOS FINES DE SEMANA CALUROSOS. FUE MADRE EJEMPLAR, HIZO TODO TIPO DE SACRIFICIO, COMO SÓLO LO SABEN HACER LOS PADRES, PARA ASEGURARSE QUE SUS HIJOSTUVIERAN QUE COMER, ROPA ADECUADA, Y QUE RECIBIERAN LA MEJOR EDUCACIÓN POSIBLE PARA ENCAMINARLOS HACIA EL TRIUNFO. LE PRECEDIERON EN LA MUERTE SUS PADRES, MARCELINO DISLA Y ROSA FRANCISCO, SU ESPOSO ALBERTO ‘CUCO’ ULLOA, SU HERMANA SOFÍA Y SU HERMANO EVARISTO. LE SOBREVIVEN SUS HIJOS LUIS Y ALBERTO, SUS HERMANOS JUAN LUIS Y ENMANUEL, Y SU HERMANA CARMEN DOLORES. Se realizará un servicio privado a su memoria el sábado 29 de mayo de 2021.
