David Leslie Hubbell

David Leslie Hubbell passed to greater glory on Monday, May 25, 2020. He was born December 29, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan and was the son of Robert and Genevieve Jacks Hubbell. Dave was pre-deceased by his first wife, Mary Kathryn, son Carl, brother Richard, sister and brother-in-law Susan and Jim Thomas. Dave is survived by his soulmate, Susan Hannan; along with his brothers Alan (Lou) of Zephyrhills, Florida and John (Aileen) of Williamsburg, Michigan; sister-in-law Janet Hubbell of Rapid City, Michigan; daughter Theresa (Frank) Jozwiak of Council Bluffs, Iowa; sons Kenneth (Lynn) of Benton City, Washington; Steve (Kim) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Jim (Dotsy) of Bellevue, Nebraska; daughter-n-law Tina Hubbell of Linthicum Heights, Maryland; David (Jody) of Marietta, Georgia; Daniel of Augusta, Georgia; Christopher of Augusta, Georgia; and step children Robert Scott (Vanessa) Hannan of Trumansburg, New York and Elizabeth (Michael) Hermsen of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; and 31 grandchildren, 43 great- grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. Dave retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years, as a Chief Master Sergeant. He went on to a second 25-year career with Royal Globe Insurance Company. Dave was always active in his church wherever he lived, particularly singing in the choir or serving as the cantor. For the last 20 years he has been a member of St. James Episcopal Church, where he actively volunteered, serving as lay reader, singing in the choir, and helping where needed. He also volunteered for several years at Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Atlanta. Dave’s passions included woodworking, model railroading, opera, square dancing, camping, traveling and he was an avid reader. He was also a scout leader, mentoring his sons. He was a member of The American Legion Post No. 0160, Smyrna, Georgia. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. James Episcopal Church at an appropriate time with burial in the family cemetery in Kewadin, Michigan.
