In Loving Memory of David R. Johnson, May 26, 1951- November 27, 2025 With love and warm thoughts, the family of David “Dave” Robert Johnson announces his sudden passing on November 27, 2025, while vacationing in Colorado with his family. Dave enjoyed spending time with his son, Kyle Johnson, while visiting the Rocky Mountain State. As a younger man, Dave excelled in many sports while at Wellesley High School in Massachusetts. He was noted in the Boston Globe newspaper as a standout football player in both offensive and defensive positions. Dave earned his Bachelor of Arts in finance at Boston College and loved being an Eagle alumnus. Dave enjoyed the outdoors and spent many summer seasons on Frye Island Golf Course in Sebago, Maine, where he maintained the greens and honed his love of golf and the rules of play. It was there that Dave met his wife, Anne, during one of those summers in Maine. They married in 1975 and recently enjoyed celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Dave and Anne lived in Massachusetts and New York. It was in the Boston area that Dave found his niche in business with the Cadillac Plastics/Dayco Company, where he was promoted to Regional Territory Manager. In 1988, the couple moved south to Georgia, a very big change from being fans of the Red Sox and Patriots to learning to love the Braves and Falcons. Dave and Anne grew to love Acworth, where they joined the tennis community wholeheartedly in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood and the marching band parent group at Kell High School. They welcomed two sons, Cody and Kyle Johnson. Their grandson, Luke Johnson, has given them both Joy with his love of the outdoors, his mastery of building Legos, and his kind heart. Luke and his “Poppy” loved oysters at the beach and bagels with lox at home. After leaving the corporate world, Dave then worked at Primrose School at Woodstock East where Anne was a director. He filled a variety of roles, working where he was most needed for the preschoolers. His positive attitude, gentle demeanor, and love of the children stood out, and the kids returned their love to “Mr. Dave” over the years. He spent 8 years with Primrose before health issues led to his retirement. Dave was preceded in death by his parents Alden and Bernice Johnson of Wellsley, Mass and Stamford, Conn, brother Timothy Johnson of Benton, Ark. He is survived by his wife Anne Archer-Johnson, his two sons Cody J. Johnson of Rockmart, GA. and Kyle F. Johnson of Loveland, Colorado; grandson, Luke J. Johnson; brother, Christopher Johnson of Ormond Beach, Fl.; sister Carolyn Johnson of Palm Coast, Fl; and nieces Nicole and Danica. Dave was an Organ Donor. A Celebration of Life was held at the Chestnut Hill Clubhouse on January 10, 2026, 5:00 -8:00 pm, 5186 Lupine Lane, Acworth, Georgia, 30102 A go fund me account for David will be managed by Catherine Kellogg, a friend of the family, for a granite bench to be placed at Red Top Mountain where Dave and his family frequently enjoyed hiking and swimming.
