Frank Bruner Leatherwood Jr.

Frank Bruner Leatherwood Jr., 92, a resident of Woodstock, Georgia, formerly of Marietta, Georgia, passed peacefully on Monday, September 2, 2024 surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Idelle Leatherwood; and sister Isabel Doswell. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Martha B. Leatherwood; daughter Ruthann Guthrie (Glenn) of Marietta, Georgia; son Cliff Leatherwood (Hope) of Woodstock, Georgia; grandchildren, Bryce Leatherwood, Lance Leatherwood and Eleanor Guthrie; niece Anne Wright (Bill) nephews Joseph Doswell (Diana) and John Doswell (Kris). Frank was born in Montgomery, Alabama on June 15,1932, graduated class of 1951 from Hayneville High School. He was a 1953 graduate from Marion Military Institute and a 1955 graduate from the University of Alabama. Frank was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity and was an active Alumni. Upon graduation he served as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army-570 Missile Battalion Group, Ft. Bliss Base, El Paso, Texas. Frank was a longtime resident of Marietta, Georgia, moving to the area in 1964 when Frank began his career with the Lockheed Corporation. He later joined and retired in 1999 from Medical Disposables/InBrand Corporation. Frank had a servant’s heart and was actively involved in the East Cobb community. He served as a High School Football Official for over 20 years. He and Martha joined Mount Bethel United Methodist Church in 1986 and was a member of the Genesis Sunday School class. Frank also served as an Usher, a member of the Administrative Board, a Trustee and was an active member of the Veterans Group. He and his family previously were members of Powers Ferry United Methodist Church. Special thanks to the staff at Holbrook Woodstock – Assisted Living for the loving care Frank received for the past 2 years. At a private ceremony, Frank was interned at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia on September 10, 2024. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Grace Resurrection Methodist Church, 1200 Indian Hills Parkway – Marietta, Georgia at 1:00pm. Visitation will precede the service at 12:00pm. The family looks forward to greeting you and appreciates your help in celebrating this life well-lived by a good and faithful servant.
