Frank William "Bill" Mosley Jr.

Frank William Mosley, Jr., known by those who loved him as “Bill” of Powder Springs, GA, aged 68, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023, at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX following a stem cell transplant as he fought Leukemia. Family has requested that in lieu of flowers donate to Amber Grace Community at Berry college (a community for disabled adults) 479 Midway Rd Powder springs 30127. He was born on Wednesday, December 1, 1954, to Frank & Jeanne Mosley. After graduating from McEachern High School, Bill would follow in his father and grandfather’s footsteps and become an educator. After graduating from Georgia State University, he taught for 41 years at Westminster Schools. Upon his retirement in 2020, Westminster shared that “Bill taught our youngest students how to catch and throw, how to take care of their bodies, and how to have fun while exercising. Time spent in the Lower School gym with Mr. Mosley was a cherished memory for many alumni.” Bill was the oldest of four siblings, and the only boy. His sister’s describe Bill as larger than life. He was tender-hearted, generous, with a contagious personality and an infectious laugh. He could make you feel like you were the only person around when you talked to him. Bill was an accomplished basketball player, coached by his father on the high school team at McEachern. Growing up Bill was a barrel of fun! He was competitive at pool, and ping pong. He was the first to go to bat for you when anyone stepped out of line against any of his people. He loved with his whole heart. Bill was a family man and a true gentleman. Always keeping you laughing! He was selfless, loving, kind, hardworking and a great protector. To know him was to love him. He touched so many lives. Bill married the love of his life and best friend, Jan Willingham on Saturday, April 17, 1976, and they had forty-six wonderful years together. Together they raised their twin son and daughter, Scott & Melissa, in Powder Springs, GA. Active in the First Baptist Church, Bill taught high school seniors in the church ‘s youth ministry for many years. Bill loved to vacation at the Hilton Head Island, playing tennis, watching sports on TV with his dad, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Jan Mosley of Powder Springs, GA; son, Scott Mosley & wife Emily of Aiken, SC; daughter, Melissa Lanier & husband Joel of Powder Springs, GA; grandchildren, Will, Faith, & Sarah Kate Didier, Haddon Lanier, and Autumn & Caroline Mosley; great-grandchildren, Jax Didier; sisters, Mary Wishon, Holley Ashworth, and Melinda Marks. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 1:00 PM in the sanctuary at the First Baptist Church of Powder Springs with Dr. Joel Lanier officiating. The family will receive guests preceding the Memorial Service from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, also in the church sanctuary. Mr. Mosley will be laid to rest beside his parents at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Jasper, GA at a later date.
