Gary J. Stanziano, M.D., 58, of Marietta died Friday, March 6, 2015. Funeral Mass will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marietta with Monsignor John Walsh officiating. Interment will be held at 12:45 p.m. at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta. Dr. Gary J. Stanziano, M.D. has been Vice President of Medical Affairs at MiMedx Group, Inc. since September 2013. Dr. Stanziano served as an Executive Vice President of Medical Affairs - Women's & Children's Health at Alere Medical, Inc. since May 2008. He served as Officer of Health Enhancement and Women's and Children's Health initiatives at Alere Health, LLC. He served as an Officer of Health Enhancement and Women's and Children's Health initiatives at Matria Healthcare Inc. Dr. Stanziano served as Vice President of Medical Affairs for Healthdyne Maternity Management since joining it in September 1992 until March 1996. Prior to joining Healthdyne Maternity Management, Dr. Stanziano served as an Associate Medical Director at Solvay Pharmaceuticals from July 1991 to September 1992, Clinical Research Manager at Health Images from January 1990 to June 1991, Medical Products Consultant at Needle and Rosenberg, P.C. from January 1989 to December 1989, Medical Researcher, Neurophysiology at Emory University School of Medicine from 1983 to 1984, a Bioengineer for the VA Medical Center at Emory University Clinic from 1981 to 1983, a Systems Engineer at Honeywell, Inc. from 1980 to 1981 and an Applications Engineer at Scientific Atlanta from 1978 to 1980. Dr. Stanziano has authored or co-authored over 100 publications and scientific presentations relating to management of pregnancy and its complications. Dr. Stanziano earned a Bachelor's degree in Engineering in 1978 and a Bachelor's degree in Applied Biology in 1983 from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia in 1988. Dr. Stanziano obtained a third class medical designation in July 2012. Dr. Stanziano enjoyed flying airplanes, the outdoors, hiking and fishing with the kids, and collecting cars, especially his red Ferrari. He loved his dog, Balto. He was a Parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church and previously at St. Catherine of Sienna. Dr. Stanziano was married to his wife, Deborah Ann Stanziano, in Salzburg, Austria in 1996 at St. Peters Church by Father Ernst Paul Rummel. Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Deborah Ann Stanziano of Marietta; daughter, Catherine “Katie” Stanziano of Marietta; son, Joseph Stanziano of Marietta; mother and father, Anne and Henry Stanziano of Fairfield, NJ; sister, Sharon Grace and Bernie of Vienna, VA; nephew, Roman Grace of Vienna, VA; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Maxwell and Kathleen Walker of Alpharetta; brother-in-law, Phillip Walker of Sandy Springs; sister-in-law, Patricia Walker of Madison; uncle, Albert Stanziano, Jr. of Clifton, NJ; and several extended family members.
