Howard Landon Dillard

Howard L. Dillard, 83 of Marietta, GA was peacefully called home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, November 23, 2022. Howard was born in Madisonville, TN where he met and married his wife of 46 years. He then entered into service in the United States Army and served as a Missile Crewman stationed in Germany during the Berlin crisis from November 1960 until March 1962. His service was completed in February 1966 and they later welcomed 2 sons and would reside as life long residents in Marietta, GA. Howards’ entrepreneurial spirit built several businesses throughout the years. He owned a trucking company, a barber shop for many years along with his current agricultural store, Marietta Seed & Feed in Marietta, GA formed with his wife, Jane. He was a servant to his church, First Baptist Church of Woodstock, where he served as usher for many years. His service and mentorship in coaching baseball has served many young men over the years. His devotion and love for his community has been well shown and appreciated by many. He loved football, baseball, classic cars, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as traveling around the country that he loved. He will be missed by many. Howard was preceded in death by his first wife, JoAnn Bookout Dillard and his parents Thomas E. Dillard and Armell Dillard of Madisonville, TN. Survivors include his wife, Jane E. Dillard of 15 years whom he shared a love of traveling and classic cars with of which both are members of the Creepers Car Club and the Thunderbird Car Club. 2 sons, Jeff Dillard (Beth) of Woodstock, GA, Chris Dillard (Kimberly) of Woodstock, GA and 2 step children, Lisa Walker (JoJo) of N. Augusta, SC, Kenneth Callahan of Waleska, GA. and 1 Sister, Bena D. Casteel (Charles) of Madisonville, TN. He was greatly blessed with 8 Grandchildren, 6 Great-Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on December 3, 2022 at Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta with the family receiving friends from 1:00-2:00 pm prior to the service. Burial will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at the National Cemetery in Canton. Flowers and arrangements are welcomed as well as any donation to the following charitable organizations in Howards’ honor. The Salvation Army, The American Heart Association and the Military Ministry @ First Baptist Church of Woodstock known as Cherokee Veterans Community.
