Jacquelyn "Jackie" Vaughan

Jacquelyn “Jackie” Glenn Vaughan, 92, of Marietta, Ga passed away April 1, 2019. She was born to the late Jeanette and Herbert Glenn in Fairfield, AL on February 7, 1927. Active in the community, Jackie was a member of the Marietta Junior League, the Marietta Garden Club, and served on the Cobb County Medical Auxiliary Board. At the First Presbyterian Church of Marietta, she volunteered in multiple roles, which included president of Presbyterian Women of the Church, as well as the distinction of being one of two women first elected to serve as deacon. In 1985, she started a business, P.J. Katz, with her best friend, the late Peggy Bullard. They designed and created custom-made, smocked children’s clothing, with great success. Jackie’s passion was the Tuesday Bridge Club, of which she was one of the few remaining original members. Begun in 1955, the bridge club stayed together for over 56 years and became a close-knit extended family. The members’ children grew up together and many remain close today. She also loved reading, shopping, golf, spoiling her grandchildren, and spending time at the beach. In 1946, she met the love of her life, the late Edgar “Ed” Vaughan, at Auburn University. They were married Feb 21, 1947. When he entered Emory University, she worked to help put him through medical school. Jackie and Ed were inseparable and their deep devotion to each other was an inspiration to everyone around them. They had just celebrated their seventy-second wedding anniversary when Ed passed away March ninth. They were reunited in Heaven just three weeks later, when Jackie passed away the first day of April. She is survived by their three children Allen (Sylvia) Vaughan, Michael (Linda) Vaughan and Anne (Jim) Duhig. In addition, her four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her sister Marion Glenn. The family would like to express their appreciation to her caregivers for their attentiveness and compassion. They also wish to thank the Bullard family for their incredible love and support. A celebration of her life will be held at 2 PM, Monday, April 15, 2019, at First Presbyterian Church of Marietta. Friends will be received from 1-2 PM, prior to the memorial service.
