Jo Ellen Shaw Page, 89, of Marietta died Sunday, March 19, 2023. Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday 3/23 at First United Methodist Church of Marietta. Mrs. Page was a life-long resident of Marietta, except for two teenage years when her family lived in West Palm Beach, FL. She was a graduate of Marietta High School, class of 1952 and attended Georgia College & State University, Oglethorpe University, and Georgia State University. She fulfilled her childhood dream and became a teacher at Waterman Street school. Along with Neal, her husband of 48 years, they owned Page One Antiques. JoJo (as many affectionately called her) was devoted to serving the children of Marietta and Cobb County. During her time in the Junior League she chaired the effort to establish the Cobb County Youth Museum, which opened in 1970. She remained a sustaining member of the Junior League, often working at their Nearly New Shoppe. She helped establish Girls Inc. of Greater Atlanta and was on the original board of directors. For 46 years her education experience played a key part in selecting recipients for the Joyce Dunaway Parker scholarships. Along with her late husband Neal, she served as founding president of the PTA for Dodgen middle and Walton high schools. They were also presidents of the Walton band. She worked tirelessly to secure state funding for mental health services and was invited to be a keynote speaker at conferences in NYC and Jekyll Island. She was a lifelong member of Marietta First United Methodist church, where she helped with acquisitions for some of the art and antique furniture. She served as a choir mother, and taught Sunday School along with Neal. JoJo loved her family and friends deeply. She enjoyed reading, music and feeding the birds in her yard. She collected many things like antiques and books, but mostly she collected people, making connections with everyone she met in all walks of life. She had a gift for positivity and encouragement, and many people over the years relied on her ability to get things done. Survivors include one son David Page and his life partner Amanda Sutton; one daughter, Gloria Benton Snepp of Kennesaw; one granddaughter, Kinsleigh Singh and her husband Ram; three great grandchildren Isabella, Deklan, and Samuel Singh; as well as several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband Allen Neal Page; sister Marilyn; two children, Ken and Allen Page. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions may be made to the scholarship endowment fund of Girls Inc. of Greater Atlanta. Family visitation will be at 1:00p in the parlor at First United Methodist Church, and after the service the family will receive visitors nearby at the home of Roy and Marie Barnes. Shuttle service from the church will be provided to the celebration.
