Kathryn Bell Woodall Puckett

Kathryn Bell Woodall Puckett, 92, of Powder Springs, passed away February 11, 2015. Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home Macland Chapel in Powder Springs, Georgia, with Rev. Dr. Mike Woods and Rev. Alan Davis officiating. She was the oldest of seven children of Frank and Hattie Woodall. She is preceded in death by daughters, Kathryn Elaine Puckett and Margaret Denise Puckett, and by her husband, Huey Lamar Puckett, whom she was married to for 65 years. Together they owned Puckett Auto Parts, Sales & Service located in Austell, Georgia. She held the longest church membership at the First Baptist Church of Powder Springs, where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at 13 years old, almost 80 years ago. Through the years she taught many of God’s little children how much Jesus loved them. In later years, she enjoyed being a member of the “Joy Seekers” Sunday School Class and she loved attending the “Happy Hearts” social events. One of the most valuable lessons Kathryn taught her family and others was the importance of doing for others. They watched her send letters of encouragement for the hurting, cooking meals for the sick and those grieving, along with making weekly visits to the home bound. In honor of all the “Simple Acts of Kindness” she did, her family would like to request you to donate a $5.00 Ronald McDonald Gift Card, which will be given to families of sick children at the Atlanta Ronald McDonald Charity House. (A donation box will be available at the funeral home). Her family is grateful for her longtime care givers; her sister, Betty Strickland, Ms. Jimmie Conyers, Ms. Terri DeMasellis, and her granddaughter, Kristen Buchanan. Survivors include her daughter, Renee Buchanan (Joseph), of Dallas; three sons, Kenneth Wayne Puckett, of Powder Springs, Dennis Lamar Puckett (Laurie), of Acworth, and Steve Puckett (Elaine) of Powder Springs; sister, Betty Strickland (Bill), of Austell; brother Jack Woodall (Irene), of Littleton, CO; seven grandchildren, Richard Buchanan (Beth), Kristen Buchanan (Patrick) , DeeDee Sleight (Bret), Jon Puckett, Greyson Puckett, Chris Causey (Jenifer), and Philip Puckett (Erin); ten great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Powder Springs.
