Mr. Lynn Lester Walker

Lynn Lester Walker, age 64, was born under the big beautiful open skies of Worland, Wyoming on December 10,1959 and entered eternal rest on November 23, 2024, in Marietta, Georgia, surrounded by loved ones. Lynn often pointed out that Kennesaw Mountain was a hill and that he could show you a real mountain. He roamed those mountains hunting with his dog Dozier as a young man. That is where he found peace. His career took him to places beyond those mountains that he had never even thought about. Janice recalls one of their first dates, "He excitedly showed me the blueprints to a building he was working on." She remembers how he appeared to have found something he genuinely enjoyed. Beginning as an engineer and surveyor working his way up to being a General Superintendent, Lynn had a lengthy career that spanned decades. He loved to see high rises come up from the ground. He had a love-hate relationship with concrete and cranes. The Atlanta skyline bears witness to the many projects Lynn worked on. Through the years Lynn worked for numerous construction companies including Beers, Beacon, Archer Western, and Brasfield and Gorrie. He devoted himself to the projects he worked on. The Georgia Dome,12th and Midtown, Truist Park, North Springs Marta Station, IBM Tower, TK Elevator Test Tower and the Omni hotel and Country Music Hall of Fame only highlight the list of accomplishments. He had many friends and colleagues that he worked extremely hard with through the years. He mentored numerous young people as they learned the construction trade. Although he could be tough, he was known to be fair to those that were willing to learn and work hard. There were many who worked with Lynn throughout his career that were considered his family, and that he cherished beyond words. Lynn Walker's greatest legacy will live on in those who loved him deeply. Preceding Lynn in death are his parents Gilbert and Arlene Walker. Remaining to cherish his memory is his wife, Janice Walker. Miranda and Pierce Brossett, their children Austin, Benji and Charlotte. Shane and Deanna Bouldin, their children Maddox and Mason. Brothers, Larry and Lee Walker. The five grandchildren who called him "Pop" delighted in every moment they were able to share with him. Lynn's greatest joy was his five grandchildren. His face would light up when he saw each of them. He loved them unconditionally, spoiled them with gifts and outings to their favorite places, and watched them grow up with amazement. He gave them big bear hugs, which he told them were because bears raised him. He enriched their lives and will continue to do so with memories that they will carry throughout their lives. Lynn will be missed tremendously and leaves a place that no one could ever fill. Lynn is now fully healed, speeding in a Chevelle through heaven, blasting classic rock on his way to skeet shoot with Dozier by his side, and wondering what is taking the rest of us so long. Visitation for Mr. Walker will be held at the Powder Spring Chapel of Mayes Ward Dobbins on Friday, December 6th, 2024 from 5:00PM - 7:00PM. A private family service will be held at a later date.
