Marjorie Jennings Ingram

Marjorie Jennings Ingram was born on April 7, 1932, in Powder Springs, GA to Marshall and Florence Jennings and had an older brother, MJ Jennings. Marjorie lived in the city of Powder Springs until her father bought a farm in Hiram, GA as she was going into her ninth-grade school year. Marjorie thought her life was over. In Hiram, there were no sidewalks, streetlights, and no bus transportation. On her first day of high school at Hiram High School, she was puzzled when the students were dismissed from school at noon. Marjorie asked if they were allowed to go home for lunch… and the other students quickly told her that they were being dismissed to go home and pick cotton. Suffice it to say, Marjorie had no prior experience with farm work before and was not the least bit interested! Marjorie Jennings married Stanley Ingram, her best friend, soulmate, and love of her life on May 22, 1949. The couple was married for 61 years, until Stanley passed away on December 29, 2009. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, and her husband, Stanley. Marjorie is survived by her two children, Stan Ingram (wife Felecia) and Renee Ingram Garriss (husband Waldon), two granddaughters, their husbands, four great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Marjorie worked at Chrysler Corporation for years before she had children and became a domestic engineer (stay at-home mom). Marjorie enjoyed cooking and baking. She loved to brighten others’ days by gifting others with her homemade pound cakes. She was a social butterfly who enjoyed exercise, art activities, church, Sunday school, other church activities, and chatting with others. After both of her children were in high school, Marjorie worked as an executive secretary at Printpack, Inc. and retired from there in 1997. Our Mother was known for the way she made everyone feel welcomed and special. She was one of the kindest (if not the kindest) people in the world. She wanted everyone to feel loved and cared for! She has been a true gift and blessing to her family and friends. Mother, you will be forever loved, remembered, and missed. We love you immensely! Funeral services for Marjorie will be at 11am, Monday, May 2, 2022 in the Historic Chapel of Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta with burial in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Hiram. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11am, prior to the service.
