Norman Bingham

Norman Bingham, age 70, died on Friday, March 23, 2012, after an extended illness. Norm fought his battle the same way he lived his life, with dignity, courage, strength and grace. Arrangements will be handled by Mayes Ward Funeral Home Marietta, GA with visitation Tuesday March 27, 2012 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday March 31, 2012 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church Marietta, GA with Pastor John Guse officiating. Barry Norman Bingham was born July 11, 1941 in Maryville, Tennessee, the eldest son of Owen and Betty Bingham. He attended elementary school in Maryville before moving to Smyrna, Georgia in 1952. The family relocated to Midwest City, Oklahoma in 1954 and Norman graduated from Midwest City High School in 1959. He attended the University of Oklahoma at Norman, Oklahoma prior to serving in the United States Army Reserves. After returning to Georgia in 1964 he attended Georgia State University. He has been a resident of Cobb County since that time. From 1964 to 1971 Norman worked for Oxford industries and later for George T. Cook and Co. as a CPA. From 1971 to 1977 he was the Atlanta Branch Manager for Law Engineering Testing Company before moving into sales with Atlanta Frame and Moulding Company. Norman quickly secured the S.E. territory for two large west coast art companies, including Winn Devon Art Group, with whom he was affiliated twenty-five years. He eventually rose to the position of National Sales Manager. Recognizing a need for more southern art, in the late nineteen nineties Norman founded his own art company, Image South Fine Art, which represents many fine southeastern artists. Norman was a lifelong sports fan and avid supporter of University of Oklahoma and University of Georgia football. He loved attending games and watching sports on television with family and friends. He was also a founding member of “The Good Old Boys”, a club that supports local charities. Norman is survived by his beloved wife of twenty-eight years, Sherry Bingham. He is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Deneen Bingham; a daughter, Noel Bingham; a brother, Steve Bingham; a sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Mike Terry; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marcia and Joel Price; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Danny and Bee Sams; and brother-in-law Tim Sams. Norm had an infectious laugh, undeniable spirit and was a loyal husband and friend. He lived life with an inspirational freedom that motivated the hearts of all around him.
