Norman Craig "Butch" Harrell

Norman Craig “Butch” Harrell, 71, of Eatonton, Georgia, passed away on August 16, 2025. Born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, on July 9, 1954, he was the son of the late Norman and Patricia Harrell. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Carol Harrell. Butch dedicated his career to serving others with skill and compassion. He worked as a Director of Application Development for more than 30 years but started his career as a registered respiratory therapist, roles through which he touched many lives with his care and expertise. In 1979, he married the love of his life, Dorie M. Harrell, with whom he built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to family. Together, they raised two daughters, Blair Linn and her husband, Adam Linn, and Ashley Graziano and her husband, Joe Graziano. He was a proud and adoring grandfather to Blair and Adam’s children—Bennett, Lawson, Maci Kate, Ace, Maggie, and Logan—and to Ashley and Joe’s children—Owen, Mason, and Ethan. He found joy both in the sky and at home. A lifelong aviation enthusiast, he loved flying his personal RV6 experimental aircraft, building and piloting RC airplanes, and sharing breakfast flights with friends. When not airborne, he embraced lake life—fishing, boating, and walking his loyal dog, Tucker. His curiosity and creativity showed in the things he built for his family, his passion for gardening, and his talent in the kitchen, where his famous key lime pie, bacon, and brisket were always favorites. Above all, he delighted in learning, researching, and discovering something new every day. Most of all, he cherished his family—his beloved wife, his daughters, their husbands, his nine treasured grandchildren, and extended family. Butch is survived by his wife, Dorie Harrell; his daughters and sons-in-law, Blair and Adam Linn and Ashley and Joe Graziano; and his nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister. Butch will be remembered for his unwavering love of family, his generosity in helping others, and his adventurous spirit that took him both into the skies and into the hearts of all who knew him. A Funeral Service will be held at 12pm on Saturday, August 23rd at Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home, Powder Springs Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
