Peggy Ann Kimball

Peggy Ann Kimball completed her earthly journey on September 9, 2023 at the age of 90. She was born and raised in Hampton, Virginia where she met her soulmate, Richard "Dick" Kimball, at Langley AFB. She spent the next 24 years as a US Air Force wife traveling the world while raising their three children. Peggy had a servant's heart. She volunteered full time at every new station to which they were assigned. She supported many other military spouses in their transitions to new assignments and during their spouses' temporary duty travels. During Dick's Pentagon assignment, Peggy served as an Arlington Lady at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington D.C. providing emotional support to families of service members killed in the line of duty. Upon retirement from active duty, Peggy and Dick moved to Marietta, where Dick began a second career at Lockheed. Once again, Peggy immersed herself in volunteer service. She became a faithful member of Marietta FUMC where she served in multiple capacities. She was a member of the Altar Guild, assisted with the funeral and the communion committees and served on the Board of Trustees. Another of her passions was serving as a wedding director and chairing the wedding commitee for over 20 years. She was a faithful member of the Jack Aaron Sunday School class where many dear friendships were formed. In April 1999, the Atlanta Journal Constitution honored her as their Volunteer of the Week. She became involved in the Lost Mountain Golden K Kiwanis Club and was involved in many programs - her favorite of which was the Cobb County school tutoring program. She was honored with the George F. Hixson award for dedicated service to the Kiwanis club and community. She was also involved with the Marietta Garden Club for several years. She was predeceased by her husband, Dick, and her brother, Kenneth Horton. She is survived by her children, Kevin, Kelly (Randy Shaw), Kay Ann, and by her beloved granddaughter, Rylee Ann Shaw, and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held on September 22, 2023 at 11 am at Marietta FUMC with a reception to follow. A private interment was held.
