Randy Garrett

Randy Donald Garrett, age 73, of Powder Springs, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. Randy was born on May 5, 1951, the youngest son/child of the late James Earl Floyd Garrett and Minnie Mae Miller Garrett. Randy worked for several companies throughout his years, including Shively Concrete Plant, Cantrell Automotive, Better Brands, Craig Shearer Signature Pools, City of Dallas and Community Bank of the South. On May 7, 1971, Randy married the love of his life, Jeannie Rayburn. They spent just shy of fifty-four wonderful years together before his passing. They married less than two months after meeting at the skating rink, a true testament to their meant-to-be marriage. Randy loved collecting vintage vinyl albums and model cars, restoring/refurbishing motorized toys, equipment and vehicles and treasure-hunting at yard sales and antique shops. He also loved his “big boy toys,” especially his 1994 Ford F150. Randy enjoyed fishing, Nascar races, Braves games, Motown music, “tinkering” in his garage/basement and anything sweet to eat. His favorite restaurant was Joan’s (Sugar Biscuits) in Dallas, Georgia, which he frequented quite often with his wife, Jeannie and his eight grandkids. Randy reveled in his role as Santa at family Christmas parties and shone as the prankster he was all year long, but his proudest role was that of “Papa.” His most treasured moments were those spent with his family, especially the grandkids. Randy is survived by his loving wife, Jeannie Elizabeth Rayburn Garrett and two daughters and sons-in-law, Dana Garrett Blank and her husband Adam Blank and Kimberly Garrett Bayliss and her husband Law Bayliss; his eight grandchildren, Haven, Steele, Slade, Samantha, Miller, Webb, Brooks and Reeves; his sister (aka “partner”), Judy Waits (Tommy); his sisters-in-law, Gail Garrett and Cris Rayburn; many beloved nieces and nephews, and much more family and friends. Randy is preceded in death by his father and mother, James Earl Floyd Garrett and Minnie Mae Miller Garrett; four brothers, Floyd Garrett Jr, James Garrett, Tony Garrett and Rudy Garrett; three sisters, Annie Mae Bounds, Mary Mooney and Bonnie Bohanon; and many beloved family and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Randy’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. A Celebration of Life for Randy Garrett will be held at a later date in the coming weeks.
