Yashoda Reddy

Yashoda Reddy passed away on February 17, 2023 after a courageous battle. She was a legend. She was extraordinary. She is survived by her husband Ranga Reddy, her son Rohith Reddy, her daughter Sujatha Reddy and the one who captured her heart--her grandson Krish. Born in Hyderabad, India, she and Ranga came to the US in the late 1960s in search of the American Dream. A dream they would find realized in every way possible including their education, life, beautiful friendships and great opportunities for their children. To have known Yashoda is to have known her fearless character, her unwavering belief in her faith, her dedication to service to all those in need and her love. Indeed her love. Her superpower was love. She was fierce in her love, she was unequivocal in her love. A lawyer by trade, she worked tirelessly over her entire career, having retired as a decorated government contracting officer for the US Department of Transportation under the Federal Aviation Administration. She shattered every glass ceiling she faced throughout her career and found irrelevant notions such as the impossible or the traditional or the customary. She was a beautiful trailblazer and did things her way-which is to say the right way. She was a founding member of the Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago, The Telugu Association of Greater Chicago and the American Telugu Association. She was incredibly proud of being an American and was patriotic to the core but never forgot her Indian roots and heritage. It was her Hindu faith in which she found comfort and in her Indian origins that she found her identity. Though it was her children and her grandson in which she found true purpose and joy. There was never a sacrifice she didn’t make for them nor a single moment in which they were not her most important priority. She taught them to be kind, to love and to believe in themselves. She taught them they could do anything they dreamt. She taught them to be brave—a lesson they are putting to use in her passing for they feel an indescribable void. She was a wife, mother and grandmother beyond compare. The world is a better place having had her presence and impact. Funeral services will be held Saturday February 25th at Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home—180 Church St, Marietta GA 30060—at 11AM.
